supporting a new employee who is overwhelmed by onboarding requires a combination of clear communication, mentorship, training, and creating a welcoming work environment. By taking proactive steps to support and guide the new employee through their transition, you can help them feel more confident and successful in their new role. Ultimately, investing time and effort in helping the new employee adjust to their new job will benefit both them and the company in the long run.

In my opinion
An employee joins an organization with the trust of the employer, ease and growth.
After doing the whole process one can feel whether this organization will be good for them or not.
A good and positive workplace adds to your other benefits. I believe we should provide them open communication with ease, conduct some 1:1 interactive activity that helps every employee to open up on their field and workplace.
Appreciate their past work, knowledge and achievements, motivate them to show their true potential for the betterment of the company and their value. So, these small positive changes can build a strong empire.😊✨
Thanks & Regards

Start by simplifying the onboarding process into manageable steps, offering a clear schedule of tasks and deadlines. Pair them with a mentor or buddy who can provide support and answer questions, fostering connections within the team. Encourage open communication, inviting them to express any concerns or difficulties they face. Offer regular check-ins to provide feedback, reassurance, and address any challenges promptly. Provide access to resources and training materials they can review at their own pace. Celebrate small milestones to boost confidence and engagement. By creating a supportive and structured onboarding experience, you help the new employee integrate smoothly and confidently into the team.

For us a newly hired software engineer struggled with the onboarding process due to the complex nature of the projects and unfamiliar tools.
Assigned a mentor who had previously worked on similar projects.
Gradually introduced project responsibilities, starting with simpler tasks while the engineer became familiar with the company's systems and tools.
Scheduled weekly one-on-one meetings to check in on progress, address concerns, and provide feedback.
Provided access to online resources and training modules for the required tools.

I would ensure that the onboarding process is structured, including scheduled check-ins with both HR and their team to assess their progress, address concerns, and clarify any doubts they may have. This would also allow us to identify if any adjustments need to be made to accommodate their learning pace.
Providing easy access to training materials and a list of key contacts can help the new employee learn at their own pace and feel more independent.
