When merging datasets from various sources, maintaining data integrity is crucial. To ensure quality, start by standardizing data formats and structures across all sources. Validate the accuracy of data before merging, checking for consistency and completeness. Use unique identifiers to match records accurately and avoid duplication. I think one of the most difficult challenges we often face is merging structured and unstructured data from diverse sources. Recent advancements in AI are beginning to ease some aspects of this challenge. For instance, I recently experimented with ChatGPT for extracting desired data from written text – a task that has traditionally been labour-intensive. To my surprise, with just a short and simple prompt, ChatGPT efficiently transformed unstructured text into a structured format, ready for integration with other data sources.
