To bridge the gap in remote communication without non-verbal cues, prioritize clear, concise messaging and encourage active listening. Use video calls when possible to capture some non-verbal elements, and be mindful of tone in written communication. Encourage open feedback and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Regular check-ins and using collaborative tools can help maintain connection and alignment. Foster a culture of patience and empathy to accommodate the nuances of remote interactions, ensuring that everyone feels heard and understood despite the distance.

Chat can be challenging since we can't exactly get the tone and full meaning behind the words. Focus on clear and thoughtful messaging, encourage regular check-ins, and ask open questions to ensure everyone feels heard and understood properly despite the lack of face-to-face interaction.

I prefer sending voice messages over texts when possible. Voice messages help me convey instructions clearly without sounding too directive. Plus I know when the message has been listened to. When voice messaging is not prudent, texting with emoticons if appropriate can help soften tones, and it helps. Voice messages save time and reduce back and forth texting, and my fingers are happier too! It is more personal and I find helps avoid miscommunication. I would usually follow up with a quick check-in to confirm understanding and answer any questions, especially if it's a critical task being communicated.

Communication is key to success. What i can suggest is to utilize video conferencing and instant messaging for regular interactions. And lets be mindful of time zones and cultural differences to encourage open communication and active listening. We have to provide clear expectations and feedback + celebrate successes and address challenges promptly. Just by prioritizing effective communication we can bridge the gap and maintain a strong remote team.
