Es cierto que kaizen e innovación van de la mano, pero para llegar al punto en que realmente hagamos mejoras, primero debemos tener procesos estandarizados. Antes de poder "...cuestionar continuamente el statu quo", debemos primero tener un "statu quo", es decir un proceso estable y en condiciones básicas. Si no lo tenemos, quiere decir que vivimos en el caos de los resultados deficientes e irregulares. Salir de ese caos parte por estandarizar y recuperar las condiciones básicas (kaifuku) para poder comenzar a innovar desde ahí. Por lo tanto primero estandarizar y luego mejorar (kaifuku, luego kaizen). (...salvo que consideremos el hecho de "estandarizar" como una "innovación")

Lean By Design: KaiZen is very excellent tool and much admired for continuous improvement in existing establishment to foolproof and becoming lean. However, there is much more focus required to apply the lean principle when in product and process design phase. Various simulation, 3D modeling, event simulation tools are available which an organization leverage and became adaptive toward lean by design. Much more enhanced version of product or process can come out before going to real world.

Follow the "actual" rule: Go to the place where the process is performed, talk to the people involved, observe and chart the process, and build a roadmap for success. First, set a goal: understand the company's current situation and business model. KPI's, strategic milestones, and must-meet-objectives. Second, Communicate the goal: Let everyone know the goal, and build a roadmap to successfully achieve this goal. Finally, Provide support, build new habits, and remove barriers hindering progress.

Using Value Stream in Lean Manufacturing is key to fostering innovation through strategic thinking: Map the Value Stream: Identify all steps from raw material to finished product, focusing on those that add value. Eliminate Waste: Spot and remove non-value-added activities like overproduction or excess inventory. Komplett richtig. Der wesentliche Punkt sind jedoch die Grenzen der Betrachtung. Viele Unternehmen beschränken sich lediglich auf eine Produktionszelle / -straße. Von Anfang an sollte die End-2-End Betrachtung im Fokus stehen. Viele Probleme oder auch Engpässe werden von außen verursacht. Z.B. künstlich erzeugte Kundenschwankungen oder Herausforderungen durch Materialien, die in großen Mengen aus großer Entfernung beschafft werden. Setzt man die Grenzen lediglich auf den internen Produktionsbereich, arbeitet man an Symptomen - nicht an Ursachen.

Customers validate each development phase and can also participate in ideation sessions too. Strategic Planning: Some customers can be involved at strategic planning sessions and either give their input or validate data that concern them. Systematic feedback loop: This involves capturing and integrating customer information after each transaction (sale, discussion, complaint, etc.) in order to measure process performance and to continually improve those processes.

Um exemplo que ja vi… você tem uma ótima equipe, pessoas dispostas a aprender, da ferramentas para elas, mas não as ensina a usar. Com isso toda essa equipe começa a desanimar e toda essa disposição vira em cansaço e “preguiça”. Dar capacitação é uma obrigação para quem quer manter sua equipe sempre animada e com uma vontade de crescer e evoluir.

Listen to new ideas, listen to the experts and do not try to force YOUR vision. Make it their vision, or you will fail. Each team has a flow, needs and wants. Let them find it, steer them, do not drag them kicking and screaming. The tiller needs a light but firm hand. My favorite introduction to stand ups was: "Let me know your ideas, if you don't ask you shall not receive. Now is the time to argue and convince each other. But know that in the end, I'll make a decision and we will all go there. The floor is yours."

Choosing the right technology as per your product specifications allows you to gain competitive advantage. Example: logistics in a warehouse wherein use of forklift is a way-of-life but it has several redundancies such as skill-level of operator causing delay in transporting of goods to the end user orders. But opting for a upgraded technology like automation to pick-n-choose goods from silos saves time and allows you to deliver results to customers with speed, aligning with your company's goal.

Leverage technology to collect data or to improve value to the customer is always a good thing, if it actually collects valuable data and actually adds value. Data that is collected, but not ever used, is a waste of resources. The strategic thinking comes in to looking at what data is actually useful. If it's not easily analyzed, and it isn't helpful. It is a waste. New technology that removes the need for labor, whether it be robotics, or data analysis, can remove cost. Look for the hidden cost: programming, maintenance, etc. Make sure you are actually able to add that value to your customers and to your company. Ultimately, do what makes sense within a goal/results focused innovation.
