As a communication coach, I inspire teams to take charge of challenging projects by fostering a sense of ownership and clarity. I help break down the project into manageable tasks and ensure that each team member understands their role and how it contributes to the bigger picture. By promoting open, transparent communication, I encourage team members to voice concerns and share ideas. Celebrating small wins and offering continuous support keeps motivation high. I also cultivate a growth mindset, helping the team see challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. Through clear goals, collaboration, and empowerment, the team feels confident to take charge.

My team is in local government, so it is typically helpful to remind everyone of the public service they are providing to get a little pep in the step on a major project. Remembering that some of the things we help with (like redesigning signage for parks) might be in place for 20+ years can be motivating. We are literally leaving our mark on the community.

In my daily work, I try to support the team with: - Providing a clear project goal; - Reinforce what value we are providing to the client; - Supporting them aligning expectations between what is expected and what they will deliver; - provide a multidisciplinary environment to solve project challenges.

Utilizing VSM techniques, I identify and remove bottlenecks, ensuring a smooth workflow and empowering the team to focus on delivering high-impact results. Recognizing achievements, even small wins, boosts morale and motivation. Finally, I always emphasize the importance of growth, ensuring the team knows this project is an opportunity for them to develop professionally.

Effective communication is key to motivating your team for a challenging task. Clearly articulate the project's objectives, expectations, and significance to the organization. Emphasize how each team member's contribution impacts the outcome and the organization's broader goals. When team members grasp the task's significance and their vital role, they'll be more invested, motivated, and driven to succeed. And, celebrate and recognise each milestones, including the small ones.
