Without understanding the perspective and angle of marketing experts, there is no easy way of steering for a priority which is just Product Management. Stakeholder management requires deep understanding everybody’s perspective from cross functional view and then making an informed decision.

Since there are clashes already and launch date is set, focus on customer. Who cares what the feature does, but what problem it will solve. And communicate that in MVP way. If feature doesnt solve any known simple problem, let marketing have their way.

Navigating creative clashes with the marketing team during feature launch planning requires aligning on the shared vision. I start by understanding their perspective on positioning while clearly articulating the product’s core value. In one of my past launches, we created a collaborative roadmap that merged product functionality with marketing insights, ensuring both sides felt heard. By focusing on the end user and how the feature benefits them, we were able to create a unified strategy, streamline the process, and deliver a successful launch with minimal friction.

To navigate creative clashes with the marketing team during feature launch planning, I use a collaborative framework. First, I facilitate joint brainstorming sessions using tools like Miro to align on goals and gather diverse perspectives. I prioritize open communication, encouraging each team to share insights while focusing on user needs. For example, if the marketing team prefers a flashy campaign but I advocate for user education, I propose a blended approach. By balancing creativity with usability, we can craft a launch that resonates with our audience and drives engagement. Regular check-ins ensure we stay aligned throughout the process.

When I experience a constructive clash with the marketing team over a feature launch, I try by bringing everyone together for a casual focused chat. I listen to their ideas and share mine, keeping it open, friendly and neutral. I try to understand their goals and what they think will be appropriate for users. If we still have difference of opinion, I suggest we brainstorm some options together or run a quick survey to get feedback from our audience. Lastly, I focus on finding a solution that balance our strengths, so that launch is a success.

To navigate creative clashes with the marketing team during feature launch planning, start by aligning on shared goals, such as target audience, product vision, and business outcomes. Facilitate a collaborative session where both teams can openly discuss their perspectives, ensuring everyone understands the rationale behind each approach. Use data and customer insights to ground discussions in user needs, helping prioritize the most impactful elements of the feature launch. Where disagreements persist, propose a compromise, such as testing different messaging or launch strategies through A/B tests.

To handle creative clashes with the marketing team during feature launch planning, I focus on aligning both teams early. I anchor discussions in the product roadmap to ensure we’re all working toward the same goals, bringing focus back to the feature's role in driving user value and business objectives. If clashes become regular, I treat them as feedback and involve marketing from the start of the feature development process. This promotes better collaboration, ensuring marketing and product are aligned on positioning and timelines from the outset, leading to smoother launches.
