On the anniversary of an interview conducted 46 years ago and in celebration of nearly 80 years of business, we are sharing a link to the conversation transcript with our founder Fred Converse back in November of 1978. For those of you in the geotechnical field, you may appreciate that he was a pioneer in geotechnical engineering. This interview, among other things, talks about the emerging soil foundation engineering field, and some early work done with the Bechtel Brothers, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Lockheed Aircraft, Kaiser Steel and Permanente Aluminum, the Navy Shipyards on Terminal Island, working with Robert V LaBarre (another pioneer), and of course, Caltech. Converse Consultants always welcomes an opportunity to give back! Our own Teri Askew was the Tooth Fairy and as Chapter Champion for CREW Las Vegas, she joined other members in the annual Trunk or Treat Event benefitting Paradise Elementary School. The trunk decorations and member participants did such an amazing job but more importantly, they made a huge difference in the lives of the kids! Thank you Celebrate Dental and Braces of Las Vegas for donating tubes of toothpaste and to UNLV School of Dental Medicine for stepping up every year and donating over 500 toothbrushes!! Converse Consultants is in the process of initiating a new version of Deltek accounting software called VantagePoint to our company. This will further aide our ability to efficiently manage our clients’ budgets and scheduling, and we anticipate this system will come online in the next quarter. While it always takes some adjustment to learn and roll out a new system, we are very excited for the efficiencies it will bring to help us serve our clients! Converse Consultants held its Board of Directors meeting recently and congratulates our team for a job well done during the 2023 year, and for being a part of the continued success and profitability this year. A quick summary of what management is doing to show appreciation and recognition of our accomplishments includes the employer matching 401(k) contributions. This offers an additional 100% increase already paid out in 2024 related to the 2023 plan year, and the same employer match increase is approved for the upcoming year. Converse Consultants also repays team dedication with our yearend bonus program, employee “years of service” recognition cash awards, companywide gift cards/cash during the yearend holidays, and compensatory time off available to full-time salaried staff working over 40 hours a week, excluding management. Even as medical and dental insurance benefit premiums increase for the company every year, we again did not pass along those added costs to employees. We continue to fully pay for all long-term disability insurance for our full-time employees as well. The Board also discussed various other benefits, including an additional paid holiday for all full-time employees. Continuing from 2023, we are optimistic that our 2024 profits will again allow us the opportunity to provide full-time employees who are enrolled in one of our health insurance plans, $500 to help with the rising costs of medical expenses. These are but a few of the exciting things going on behind the scenes at Converse Consultants. To carry our current success into the future, we must all continue to work as a team to achieve the overall company goals of managing profitable operations as efficiently, effectively and as mindfully as possible for the benefit of our team and clients of Converse Consultants.
