We're delighted to share that 'Tern the Tide', one of our #CreativeClimateAction projects has been shortlisted for a Business to Arts awards in the ESB Creative Sustainability category -recognising creative partnerships that address themes around the environment, climate crisis, and circular economy, inspiring positive change in the communities they engage with. Tern the Tide is a creative climate action project in collaboration with Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, led by artists Marie Gordon and Laura McMahon which celebrates and raises awareness of the NSPW Little Tern conservation work in Kilcoole, along the Dublin-Rosslare Railway line. SAM ROM [I AM ROMA] is a new short film, directed by Katie-Ruby McLaughlin Robinson which will make its debut at the Galway Film Fleadh tomorrow Sunday July 13th at 10.30am. This short film, funded by Creative Ireland, brings Roma voices to the screen with a focus on those living in Donegal. Rip up the rules and rewrite the story with Cut-Up Poetry 📝 As part of Undercurrents: A Social and Ecological Story of Leixlip, writer and artist Roisin Power Hackett will lead a poetry workshop on Saturday 5 July, from 2–4pm at Leixlip Youth and Community Centre. Cut-up poetry is an experimental writing method used by the Dadaists, Beat poets, and musicians alike, inviting participants to slice, remix, and reimagine existing texts into new poetic works. The Air We Share is a #CreativeClimateAction fund project now coming to an exciting public launch moment! Workshops and events from ‘The Air We Share’ artist-in-residence programmes will feature at this year’s Westside Arts Festival, which takes place from 8th to 12th July 2025. Galway Arts Centre’s artists in residence – Christopher Steenson, Leon Butler, and A Place of Their Own (Paula McCloskey and Sam Vardy) – have spent the past eight months developing innovative and collaborative works on air quality and climate in close engagement with the Westside community and scientific partners from the University of Galway. The Neart na Machairí project in Maharees, Co. Kerry is harnessing collective action and community engagement to make sure the coastline region is well-adapted in the face of climate change and biodiversity loss. One of Creative Ireland's 43 Creative Climate Action Fund projects, the project is leading with an integrated approach to coastal resilience with three artists facilitating a creative and collaborative exploration of the future of Maharees. “The wonderful thing about the arts, it’s a global language” Taipéis is the Irish word for tapestry. The Taipéis project, one of Creative Ireland’s Creative Health and Wellbeing fund projects, has brought together new asylum seekers and immigrants who have been living in Ireland, to foster connection within their local community. By sharing personal stories and creating events, the project helps participants integrate into Irish culture while celebrating their unique backgrounds.
