Illumination Foundation’s mission is to disrupt the cycle of homelessness.
About us
Our mission is to provide targeted, interdisciplinary services for the most vulnerable homeless clients to break or prevent the cycle of homelessness. Studies show that families with children are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population in America. This is especially true in Orange County, where one of the most expensive housing markets in the nation creates an immense gap between income and affordable housing. In 2007, the Illumination Foundation was founded to create a safety net for these homeless families by providing ongoing patient-centered housing, healthcare, workforce, and educational services. For the past ten years, we’ve committed ourselves to providing the best care possible for the homeless, focusing on services that will assist families into stable housing. By assessing families and individuals as they enter our care, we can identify their unique needs and provide immediate relief when necessary. We utilize public/private partnerships to ensure that our clients are connected to all community resources available to them.

We appreciate your partnership and were grateful to have you at the event! Here's to many more years of supporting the youth and disrupting the cycle of homelessness!
“I have an address.” Those 4 powerful words exemplify the relief that #families share when they have the security of shelter at Illumination Foundation. When board member & honoree Dr. Geeta Grover shared the story of a young woman & her two boys who worried about their safety as they lived in a car without tinted windows, I know the hearts of everyone in the room at the Women’s #Philanthropy event sank. 1 in 3 individuals experiencing #homelessness in the US is under 18. That is a stark & unacceptable statistic. To disrupt the cycle of homelessness, Illumination Foundation has been providing #housing & medical support to their clients across Southern California since 2008. Thanks to the innovative vision of CEO Pooja Bhalla, DNP, RN, we at My Private Professor are proud to have partnered with Illumination Foundation since January 2023 to provide 1-on-1 #tutoring as an additional #resource for the #youth they serve. #Education is a game-changer for uplifting lives. The data is clear that homelessness negatively impacts #academic outcomes, attendance, & graduation rates. By providing OVER 570 HOURS of high-quality, consistent tutoring to students residing in Illumination Foundation’s emergency shelters, rapid rehousing, & permanent supportive housing, we are impacting the future trajectory of the next generation. They certainly deserve it. #impact #partnership #community #students #maximizingpotentialwithpurpose #mpp

Our Women's Philanthropy Luncheon was a resounding success! We are grateful to our generous sponsors, supporters, and guests who made our Women’s Philanthropy Luncheon possible! The event featured inspiring women, including Illumination Foundation CEO Dr. Pooja Bhalla, DNP, RN; Community Honorees Dr. Geeta Grover from UCI Health Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders, Dr. Kelly Bruno-Nelson from CalOptima Health, and an Illumination Foundation client who was recently housed. Every year, we hold our Women's Philanthropy Luncheon to celebrate the resilience, courage, and determination of the remarkable women we serve and work alongside. The money raised from the event will go towards the women in our programs. Thank you to everyone who sponsored, donated, and supported this event! We’re thrilled to announce that Board member Chef Leo and Teresa Razo, pillars of our community and an integral part of the Illumination Foundation family, are featured in the heartfelt documentary Rock Soup by Tony Marino. Their journey of resilience, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to serving others is one you don’t want to miss. Starting from humble beginnings, Leo and Teresa’s culinary passion blossomed into the creation of their renowned restaurants: Villa Roma and Cambalache Grill. But they have touched lives far beyond the kitchen. From feeding those in need along the Santa Ana River to helping Illumination Foundation provide meals for COVID-19 patients, and extending their generosity to Leo’s hometown in Jalisco, Mexico, they’ve helped feed over 2.5 million people worldwide. Their dedication embodies what it means to make a difference, one meal at a time. Check out Rock Soup and this Daily Pilot article to witness their incredible impact and learn more about how they continue to live our mission of disrupting homelessness through compassion, housing, and healthcare. Theirs is a story that will fill your heart and inspire you! https://ow.ly/CIMk50TSPV4 #IFHomeless #IlluminationFoundation #RockSoup #Givingback #feedingothers #philanthropy #homelessness #hunger
