𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 ↳ It’s not enough to update your resume once and mass apply to jobs.. You need to tailor your resume for every. single. application. You have 7.4 seconds to grab a recruiter's attention with your resume. Here are 5 mistakes to avoid and what to do instead to grab it: ❌ Mistake 1: Only writing your responsibilities in the bullet points. ✅ How to fix it: Focus on the IMPACT you had in your last role instead of listing everything you've ever done. Go through each of your resume bullet points and ask yourself, "Why did this matter to the business and how is this relevant to the role I'm applying to?" If it's not, cut it. ❌ Mistake 2: Listing EVERYTHING you've done in every past job. ✅ Do this instead: Show the 10% of you that's 100% relevant to the role. (You can use Teal's AI Resume Builder to do this by creating a base resume with all of your achievements and toggling on and off the best ones for each job.) ❌ Mistake 3: Using fluffy and generic language. ✅ How to fix it: Instead of saying "highly organized individual," include an achievement that *shows* how you organized a project. Instead of "driven and passionate" include an achievement where you initiated something. Every word counts. ❌ Mistake 4: Not tailoring your resume to the job description. ✅ How to fix it: Applying to hundreds of jobs is time-consuming, but creating a base version of your resume that you can tweak slightly for various types of jobs can increase your interviews.
