November 8th is National STEM Day! This is a day for celebrating science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and careers. Teq and our partners at ActiveFloor, zSpace, Inc., and SMART Technologies have been extending this to National STE(A)M Week! We've been hosting STE(A)M playgrounds at the eight Exemplary STE(A)M Schools in Chicago Public Schools. Students, staff, and parents have been able to engage with the latest educational technology and use the engineering design process to get creative in project-based learning. CPS defines Exemplary STE(A)M Schools as ones in which evidence shows program standards are being implemented with fidelity and upheld by members of the school community. These schools have established foundational site conditions that are needed to sustain program implementation over time: - 𝘊𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘞. I’m only halfway through the day and the happiness and smiles I saw on these middle schooler’s faces warmed my heart! If you look closely at the pictures and videos, you will see engagement, collaboration, content, fun, friendly competition, and smiles!!! There is even one video where the student throws her hands up in victory at the end. I loved every minute of it! Thank you to ActiveFloor, Teq, and the Chicago Public Schools system for another fun morning! Excuse my loud chatter and cheering.

This week, ActiveFloor has brought me to the Chicago Public Schools system. We are doing 8 schools in 4 days with Teq 😁. Yesterday, I got to engage with students from 4 years old to middle school age. The kids and I had a blast doing math for hours! I was dripping with sweat by the end of the day. In general, I am also having a blast in Chicago! I am making the best of these rainy days and having some fun in the city. I went exploring near “The Bean” today and had a slice of Chicago-style pizza. I am now in love with this pizza and can never go back to my regular pizza at home! I am looking forward to the rest of the week with the Chicago Public Schools stystem. I know how much ActiveFloor can impact their STEM programs and look forward to continued growth. Lastly, a media crew covered the event yesterday. Stay tuned for the pictures and news story on Channel 5 News Chicago!
