Since starting my Masters, I've had a lot of fun in most of the classes I've picked. But this semester I decided to take up a Film class- specifically Fiction. And here's a Pros and Cons list incase you were interested. ✅ Pros: 1. Finally, a legitimate excuse to binge-watch movies guilt-free. 🤭 2. Learning the art of looking busy while actually just analyzing cinematography. 3. Perfecting the skill of arguing why my favorite movie is a masterpiece. 4. My Netflix recommendations are now considered "research." 🫣 5. I can casually drop terms like "mise-en-scène" in everyday conversation. 🚫 Cons: 1. Realizing that watching movies for fun is now considered "homework". And my obsession with Rom-Coms isn't cutting it. 🤬 2. The eternal struggle of staying awake during those three-hour foreign films. Watching slow movies in a TikTok world is a challenge. 3. Trying to explain to my family that I don't actually want to make films I just want to make content on Tiktok and Instagram. 😶🌫️ 4. Constantly battling the urge to correct inaccuracies in movie dialogue. 5. The dread of having to critique your friend's amateur film project without hurting feelings. Because mine is equally BAD. 🫠
