As a proud member of Gen Z, I wanted to share with you all what our generation looks for in the workplace. Growing up in a world driven by technology, we thrive in environments that embrace digital tools and AI. It is not just about being efficient; it is about fostering innovation and staying ahead of the curve. We love workplaces that help us work smarter and unleash our creativity. For us, having a sense of purpose is essential. We want roles that align with our values and passions, whether it is making a positive impact on sustainability, social justice, or community well-being. We want to feel connected to a larger mission and know that our work is making a difference. Flexibility is a big deal for us. We believe that work should fit into our lives, not vice versa. That is why remote work and hybrid models are so appealing to us. They allow us to have a healthy work-life balance and give us the freedom to manage our time effectively. We appreciate companies that respect our well-being and value our time. Mental health and well-being are top priorities for us as well. We seek out supportive environments that foster empathy and understanding. We need to be in a workplace culture that values everyone and makes us feel like we belong. RIP. The days of doing unnecessary commutes to a 9-5 job in the office are dead, and if they aren't, they should be. Flexibility matters. It matters because - newsflash - employees aren't children! Flexibility acknowledges that we are all unique individuals. Some people love the buzz of the office, others prefer a mix of office and home, and some love working remotely. As long as the work gets done, giving people the freedom to choose is what can set companies apart. Times are changing and who wants to be stuck with a foot in the past? On a more important note, it's not all about choice. For disabled individuals and those with neurodiversity, the daily commute and office environment can be a impossible. And let's not forget those with child-caring responsibilities—flexible working can be an absolute lifesaver. We don’t expect one size of clothes to fit everyone, so why should one working style fit everyone? Flexible working isn't just a perk; it’s essential for creating an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone can flourish. That feeling when you hit [post] and the entire share vanishes...🤔 makes you wonder if you had enough coffee! Speaking of coffee ☕ - Am I the last one to learn about this trend brewing in some workplaces?  Today I came across a CNBC article published earlier this year, that gives #butfirstcoffee, a whole new meaning to #remotework... It's a new concept called: Coffee Badging. Some remote-friendly companies are now offering this 'return to work' perk. Essentially, employees go into the office for socializing and presence, to then return back to their chosen environment to finish their day. This is definitely offers an new age mantra to the art of community engagement at work. I'm a strong advocate for fostering positive team dynamics, especially in #healthcare, and I believe remote options are here to stay, but this is definitely an interesting way to foster social interaction in the work environment: going into the office to start your day, only to leave after you've mingled over a cup or two. ➡ I'm curious if anyone has already adapted the practice within your company?
