Alex Campbell and a group of Sociology students at Elizabethton High School are featured in a new podcast titled "Murder 101." The podcast explores their 2018 project where they investigated a series of decades-old, unsolved murder cases in and around Tennessee. https://lnkd.in/g7XcVpRv Can you recall a teacher who used unique teaching methods or had a class project that was creative and different? We'd love to hear about it!

What's sadly missed with explaining Parental Alienation is the situation where the one parent removes the child geographically from the other parent but the child does not internalise the continuing denegration of the other parent. For some strange reason, it was decided that the term 'Parental Alienation Syndrome' would become 'Parental Alienation', which involved the child sharing the persecutory delusion, and overlooking the dictionary term 'alienate' (which covers the scenario where the relationship was disrupted by moving the child to an inaccessible location, and the internal connection between child and targeted parent diminishes. I re-iterate, it's not only where the child rejects the parent. This needs talking about, and the term needs updating.

I find Scott Galloway to be intensely insightful and almost always on point. I fully agree that we need to add curriculum for personal finances and wealth building in high school. In a lot of ways our long term success depends on how good we are at mobilizing the money we make. Already have his new book “The Algebra of Wealth” on my read next list in Goodreads. #personalfinances #wealth #money #investing #book #bookrecommendations #scottgalloway

Spend the next 7 minutes & 36 seconds to learn the macro challenges for the younger generation. I was aware of some of these challenges especially housing costs, but this is a real eye opener. If our parents helped us all to a better life, we need several hard changes to help the next-up generation. watch. learn. help. #socioeconomic

Every year, professionals and retirees with disposable incomes and investable funds make charitable giving decisions, with colleges and universities among the top recipients of donor largesse. While over the past 5 years the total number of individual college donors has decreased, leading to greater reliance on megadonors, moderate-sized gifts of $10,000-100,000 (coming from about 2.5% of all donors, in many cases made through trusts, testamentary dispositions, and family foundations), still accounted for close to 15% of the voluntary gifts received by reporting colleges and universities last year. Gifts of $100,000 to $1 million (coming from only 0.5% of donors) accounted for over 25%. Some modest-to-moderate givers have been openly telling their beneficiary institutions for years that they have been reducing or skipping their gifts due to declining academic rigor and standards, lower emphasis on teaching and learning, administrative bloat, loss of focus on traditional or valuable subjects of inquiry, rank-chasing, intolerance for viewpoint diversity, or overemphasis on identity politics, among other problems. The anti-semitic harassment on many campuses at a scale possibly never before seen in the U.S. should lead to many more such conversations. Non-Jewish donors may not be nearly as exposed as Jewish ones to news items such as those collected below, but they should also take note. Even if you are not directly affected or would like to reserve political judgment because you do not know enough about the background, the tenor of these disturbances (not to mention the level of student and faculty participation shortly before finals) should prompt some serious thought before any gifts about the quality of education the donations are funding.
Post 26. Terror on campus. The clock ticks, ominously. It may soon be too late to address. Will words become deeds, and students maimed/killed for the crime of being Jewish? Columbia. Crowds chant (1) "Burn Tel Aviv to the ground. Hamas, we love you and we love your rockets too" (2) "there is only one solution intifada revolution"(3) "death to America" (4) "we will bring a thousand October 7ths" (5) "we don't want no two states, we want all of it" (6) "go back to Poland" (whose 3M Jews were almost all slaughtered by the Nazis). Tel Aviv has 4.5 million Jews, Muslims and Christians. C1 expressly calls for their death. Equally unfathomable, a masked protestor holds an "Al-Qassam's Next Target" sign with a big arrow pointing at a group of Jewish students. Al-Qassam is the military wing of Hamas. This is a direct request that terrorists (as per the U.S., the EU and much of the rest of the world) that revel in killing innocents come and kill U.S. Jewish students. Physical assaults of anyone visibly Jewish or supporting Israel are now so frequent, the danger so serious and imminent, that Columbia's Rabbi just advised students: "It deeply pains me to say that I would strongly recommend you return home and remain home until the reality in and around campus has dramatically improved." America, 2024. Inconceivable. MIT. Dozens of incidents; it keeps getting worse. This week, the screamed chants included (in its original Arabic) "from the water to water, Palestine will be ALL Arab." Presumably, the 7.5M Jewish, Christian and other non-Arabs (almost 4x the population of Gaza) will have to be exterminated or ethnically cleansed, as Jews were in many Arab lands. Tufts. One protest wall reads "Zionist tactics were used to kill Eric Garner and George Floyd." Unless I err, there were no Jews anywhere near either tragedy. But somehow Jews caused both (and the many others listed) and presumably must pay the price. Yale. One Jewish student already hospitalized after being stabbed in the eye with the pole of a Palestinian flag. American flags ripped down. Swarming and shoving Jewish students who try to walk through campus or near the protests, including as reporters seeking to cover them. One shocking technique visible in many videos is (in addition to the wearing of balaclavas and other identity obscuring facial coverings) is the "swarm and smother." Whenever a reporter or non-supporter comes near one of these protests, a group quickly detaches, surrounds and jostles the reporter/intruder, covering them with signs, keffiyehs, umbrellas etc. to prevent freedom of movement and of the press. This is not remotely about free speech. It is about anarchy, terror, violence and incitement to far more. The above is just facts. Reread the above, please, imagining it being done to black or LGBTQ or ANY other student group. In lieu of the dozens of terrifying recent videos, attached is a chillingly prescient 2016 SNL clip. Life imitates art. The fuse burns low...
