EMT have been trailblazing around the globe this year, showcasing at high profile industry events including Distributech, IEEE and CIGRE, our latest innovations using science-based principles for #SF6andEcoGasAnalysisandHandling If you missed us at these events, there’s still time before the year’s out to see live demonstrations of our game-changing, future-proof solutions, the #ZerowasteRapideEco + 4in1 SF6 Eco Gas Analyser, and the latest addition to our market leading product portfolio #SmartfillEco + 3in1 Multi-Gas Filling and Top Up System. EMT will be exhibiting at #EuroDobleManchester UK 7-10 October, where our VP Global Sales & Technical Services Neil Gwinnutt will be presenting on ‘Legislative and operational considerations for the transition from SF6 to #SF6alternative gas technologies’... ... A discussion on the legislative changes and obligations faced by utilities associated with the changes to F-Gas regulations in Europe and the transition away from SF6 insulating gas technologies. As the transition from SF6 to #AlternativeInsulatingGasTechnologies gathers speed, new standards and guidelines are slowly catching up and influencing the daily operations of utilities. Challenges, sometimes difficult ones, are being learnt globally as the industry adopts these new technologies; here we will discuss some of those practical challenges and how utilities have faced and overcome them. Huge news out of the Office of Clean Energy Demonstratios this week! OCED announced project selections for the Industrial Demonstrations Program, with $6B in federal funding for achieving deep industrial decarbonization. This program aims to demonstrate industrial decarbonization across sectors that our economy and livelihoods rely on. This includes Iron & Steel, Cement, Chemicals, Pulp & Paper and others. Importantly, this program unlocks $14B in private sector funding (as cost share) to kickstart the equitable transition to a clean energy economy. I was happy to contribute to the portfolio strategy for this decision, taking the lead on coordinating Carbon Capture and Storage between OCED programs. For hard-to-abate sectors, Industrial CCS is one of the necessary least-cost abatement solutions to achieve 2050 Net Zero economy goals. Projects in the Industrial Demonstrations program and other Carbon Manage programs seek to de-risk Industrial CCS so that we can deploy this important solution at scale. Congratulations and a job well done to the OCED Industrial Demonstrations team for their incredible hard work. I know some people who worked day and night to bring this program to life. It has been an absolute joy working with dedicated public servants who believe in the mission of climate action! #netzero #cleanenergy #industrialdecarbonization #DOE #climate #sustainability #commercialization #carboncapture #CCS
Today, U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s DOE Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations selected 33 projects across 20+ states to be part of the single largest industrial decarbonization effort in U.S. history. Funded through President Biden’s Investing in America agenda, projects will help decarbonize some of the most energy-intensive industries where efforts will have the greatest impact. Together, the 33 selected projects will: ✔Transform the industrial sector with new emissions-slashing technologies ✔Strengthen American manufacturing competitiveness ✔Create and maintain good-paying jobs Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ev8AY3_v

There is a lot to like about this DOE/OCED announcement! It is a huge investment in modernizing industrial operations at a large scale. It shows U.S. companies across heavy industrial sectors are willing and able to change the way they produce goods to reduce carbon emissions. Transformational technology is here today and will catalyze faster and deeper emissions reductions in the years ahead. Cleaner and safer facilities are essential to the health of communities and those affected by climate change and will help maintain these sectors' economic competitiveness. The pathway to a fossil- and emissions-free industrial sector will not be quick nor easy and industry will need continued support to decarbonize. But what a great start!

Thrilled to announce that Diageo and Rondo are partnering to install innovative, cost-efficient zero-carbon heat battery technology at two Diageo production sites – eliminating reliance on natural gas for boilers used in heating processes. We're proud that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the DOE Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations selected Diageo for its Industrial Demonstrations Program with up to $75 million in funds to deploy heat batteries that will help Diageo transition to renewable energy sources at their production sites in Shelbyville, Kentucky (Bulleit Whiskey) and Plainfield, Illinois and eventually make both facilities carbon neutral. “Today’s announcement from the Department of Energy marks a milestone for our North American operations and gives us the opportunity to incorporate innovative technologies into our production footprint to make our business more efficient, resilient and sustainable,” says Marsha Mcintosh, President of North America Supply at Diageo. "Through our partnership with Rondo Energy we’ll build a model that can be replicated across our supply operations in the U.S.” Rondo Heat Battery technology captures and stores renewable energy, delivering continuous industrial heat and power that address intermittency concerns. This project is a new, more cost-effective path to industrial decarbonization that has potential to deliver firm, reliable clean energy for decades. These heat batteries will replace the use of natural gas to provide heat for production processes, eliminating nearly 17,000 metric tons of direct greenhouse gas emissions annually across the two facilities, which is the equivalent of taking more than 4,046 gasoline-powered cars off the road for a year. Congratulations to Change Chemistry (formerly Green Chemistry & Commerce Council (GC3)) members Eastman; Dow; ExxonMobil; and Ashland for being selected for these critical awards to show proof of concept for scaling technologies to advance industrial decarbonization and circularity in the chemicals sector. We are disappointed that our members Solugen and Mango Materials, earlier stage companies with game changing sustainable chemistry technologies, that really need the capital boost to scale that these awards would have provided, were not selected. If we are to fundamentally change chemistry and find functional replacements for incumbent chemistries and manufacturing processes, we need to make sure that we are ensuring that bold new innovations have the investment and incentives needed to demonstrate, deploy, and scale and make them cost competitive in the marketplace. Its critical that these not only decarbonize the economy but also detoxify chemistry from cradle to grave, leveraging a bold definition of Sustainable Chemistry. https://lnkd.in/etRKpaGW
