Colm McCarthy is a British film and television director, writer and producer, born in Edinburgh, Scotland. He began his career in television, directing episodes for BBC series such as "Casualty" and "Holby City". McCarthy transitioned to feature films, directing the horror film "Outcast" (2014) and the post-apocalyptic horror film "The Girl with All the Gifts" (2016), for which he won a BAFTA for Best Director.
He is best known for his work on the BBC miniseries "Peaky Blinders" (2013-2019), as well as episodes of "Sherlock," "Endeavour," "Black Mirror
