SuperNova
Some are artists renditions, some are actual pictures taken with our space telescopes. All are an idea of the future of our solar system and planet (albeit, way far in the future). Although our sun does not posses the mass to supernova it can and probably will nova and although not as spectacular the end result is the same...the end of life as it was known and the beginning of something new. Some of these pictures show black holes, pulsars and gamma bursts associated with the rapid implosion of a super-massive star at the end of it's life (Bettleguise comes to mind as it seems to be occurring at this time). And by rapid I mean rapid in a stars time frame, which is thought to be about 5000 of our years. I hope you find these pictures as interesting and thought provoking as I do. :)
