“To be honest, I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this flick but, since there was a solid cast involved, I thought I might as well check it out. Well, if you are familiar with the John Wick franchise, this movie will really feel like it was some kind of spin-off focusing on the Continental (which did get a mini-series in 2023). So, basically, because of the super famous franchise, this movie did feel rather derivative after all but it doesn’t mean that it wasn’t entertaining though. Indeed, the mood was neat and it was visually not bad at all. However, what really worked in this movie was the cast though (Jodie Foster, Sterling K. First Viewing Hotel Artemis has an irresistible setup (that, yes, does take mightily from John Wick) and several pieces of genre brilliance, but they don't add up to a wholly satisfying film. While writer/director Drew Pearce has assembled a strong cast of characters, and cast in general, he doesn't really do much with them. There are so many of them in such a short film, that many get short shrift, never quite reaching their potential; with such strong personalities on display"
