Ilum was an ice planet in the 7G sector of the Unknown Regions. One of the main sources of the valuable kyber crystals used in the construction of Jedi lightsabers, the caverns containing the crystals were turned into a Jedi temple thousands of years ago. It had been utilized by the Jedi Order for the Gathering, a rite of passage in which young Jedi initiates must find kyber crystals for their lightsabers. Unlike the crystals of other planets, the crystals of Ilum were limited to blue and green in color.
