Stewart Stern was an American screenwriter. He is best known for writing the screenplays for "Rebel Without a Cause" (1955), starring James Dean and "Rachel, Rachel" (1968), directed by Paul Newman. Stern served in the Army's 106th Infantry Division during World War II, seeing action in the Battle of the Bulge. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Combat Infantry Badge.
