This show has a great main character portrayed by a more than good enough actor capable of getting it right when they ask him to. It also has a interesting idea to work from so how could they get it wrong?

During the day, Dexter Morgan is a jovial employee in the Miami Metropolitan Police Department's crime lab, but his meticulously crafted life masks his true nature. In reality Dexter is a disciplined and murderous psychopath (a self-admitted "monster"), and he slakes his blood lust at night by carefully killing the serial killers he tracks down during the day. Based on the novels (Darkly Dreaming Dexter, Dearly Devoted Dexter and Dexter in the Dark) by Jeff Lindsay.

" Seasons : 8 (all of them) Notes : Dexter is a great character and Michael C. Hall (who was already great in 'Six Feet Under') is just awesome here. I'm afraid the show won't be so good after 8 seasons but this first season was just really fun. In my case, even though I loved the character and Micheal C. Hall's amazing performance, even though the makers tried really hard to convince me that it was really edgy, at the end of the day, it is pretty much a really basic police procedural drama. "
