Description:
Starting her career on the stage in Ireland and England, she made a slow progression toward film, with strong stage performance's in Alfred Hitchcock's "Murder!" (1930), and Noel Coward's "Cavalcade" (1933). Success in movies would come quickly after this, and helped her decide to move to Hollywood.
Her best remembered roles are performances in James Whale's "The Invisible Man" (1933), "Bride of Frankenstein" (1935), as the grieving mother of a dead IRA member in 1935's "The Informer", and the nearly deaf housemaid in Agatha Christie's "Witness for the Prosecution" f
