Erich von Stroheim's classic silent film "Greed" (1924) is screened with live musical accompaniment of an original score by the Rats & People Motion Picture Orchestra. Based on Frank Norris' novel "McTeague," "Greed" involves the manifold troubles that ensue after the wife (ZaSu Pitts) of McTeague (Gibson Gowland) wins a lottery prize of $5,000. The film is introduced and discussed by former Chicago Reader film critic Jonathan Rosenbaum, author of the BFI Film Classics volume on "Greed."
