4 Types of Boots I’m Relying on This Fall and Winter
These boots were made for walking.
Friends! The time has come for a proper boot edit. I don’t care if it’s 75 degrees in New York as I type this (again!). Once the calendar says we’re in a season, I’m moving on no matter what the temperature reads. But before we get into things…have you registered to vote? Come up with an election day voting plan? As you know, Marie Claire is the destination for women of power, purpose, and style—so let’s lean into all three of those pillars and get to the polls on election day, okay? Now, on to the shoes!
Patent, Suede, or Textured
As I mentioned last week, I’ve only recently come around to the idea of calf leather boots. For years I’ve relied on the same pair of patent leather Saint Laurent ankle boots to add a little pop to my fall and winter outfits. A little razzle dazzle to the jeans-turtleneck-blazer outfit combo, if you will. And with the proliferation of suede and leopard (currently a trend, but actually timeless) I’ll do the same.
Knee-High Boots
I’m circling back to this style from last week’s send because there are just so many good options on the market. I’ll most likely wear them with midi-skirts, but I also like the idea of pairing them with the dark denim jorts I was obsessed with over the summer.
Cowboy Boots
This one may not seem as obvious, especially when you consider my personal style that’s a bit preppy and includes lots of tailoring. Nevertheless, there’s always something I’ve loved about cowboy boots. Maybe it’s their fundamental utilitarian nature, maybe it’s the unexpected touch it can bring to my style, but I’ve got my eye on a bunch of styles this season.
Get-About Ankle Boots
I stole this classification of boot from my sister, but it essentially is one that you can put on and hit the ground running. For me, that means an ankle boot (so I can quickly switch in and out of it if need be) that has a low block heel. This is my favorite kind of boot to wear during the fall and winter because it pretty much works with any kind of bottom.
Plus Three More Outfit Upgrades I’m Trying This Season
Maybe it’s because I’ve been watching a lot of wearing versus styling TikToks recently, but I’ve been thinking about tiny style upgrades and ways I can take my outfits to the next level. Watches, sunglasses, and belts never fail me.
At under $400, this watch is punching above its weight. The shape of the bezel and mother of pearl dial are endlessly elegant.
Lighter lenses mean you can wear these frames both indoors and outdoors.
