Not only does it help give more head room & make the rooms feel larger but it gives wonderful definition & texture to the room. Sometimes we forget the ceiling is the 5th wall & just as important to incorporate in design.

The Process:

1. Expose & Sand Ceiling Joists
-Demo old drywall
-Demo or relocate electric fixtures and HVAC Boots
-Sand the beams (we even used a planer to make them a bit more uniform)
-you’ll likely want to have some Bondo ready to fill old holes too 😉

2. Leave 1.5” Gap for Electrical Wires
