Though shrinkage is sign of healthy hair, it can be ANNOYING!!! Thankfully, I found using my @myrevair to stretch my wash and gos , gives me the length that I desire.

Tips:
1. To avoid frizz… make sure hair is fully dry, and try to use a gel with crunch to maintain your definition. I’m using a gel I’m currently working on for my hair care line which will drop soon!!!

2. To prevent overstretching and loosing your curl pattern… make sure to work in sections, use low heat, and I personally use level 4 suction.

4C hair is the tightest and most coily hair type, which means it is also prone to shrinkage.

Shrinkage occurs when hair dries and curls up, making it appear shorter than its actual length

. This can be frustrating for people with 4C hair, but there are ways to reduce shrinkage and show off your natural length.

Here are some tips for reducing shrinkage on 4C hair:

Use a leave-in conditioner or styling cream that contains moisturizing ingredients.

Detangle your hair thoroughly before styling.

Apply heat to your hair with a diffuser attachment on a blow dryer.

Protect your hair from the elements with a hat or scarf when you go outside.

ALL ABOUT THE SHRINKAGE

Hi Loves!

I know a lot of naturals don’t like shrinkage but it really is a sign that your hair is healthy! #tlhairtip

Shrinkage is what happens as your hair decreases in length as it dries.

It annoys most of us as Naturals because it denies us from showing our true hair length.

Shrinkage is normal, and it measures how much elasticity or “bounce back” our hair has. Shrinkage is a sign that your keratin bonds are in tact throughout your strands and that your hair is strong and resistant to major breakage. Elasticity means your hair is pliable and not brittle or too mushy.

There are ways to safely stretch your hair and reduce shrinkage if you want to, but overall, don’t hate on shrinkage too much. It’s a sign your hair is healthy and thriving!
