This wall is only 79” wide so I utilized the 12’ height to maximize the space. 🏡I’ve always dreamed of having a home library, but in a 1800 sq.ft. home while raising 3 girls, all of our rooms were already being utilized, not to mention the cost of all the units we looked into. So my husband & I went to work and created a Library Wall in our Living room utilizing a narrow but tall wall. We used @ikea Billy bookcases and customized them for the needs of our small home including storage. 🏡I hope this Breakdown of products & cost is helpful. I have details of this build saved on my highlight bubble “Library Wall”. 2.3M views · 41K reactions | Thrifted Art Deco vanity gets another chance! | Thrifted Art Deco vanity gets another chance! | By Salvaged by k. scott | This is a flip you need to see. I stumbled across this art deco waterfall style vanity hidden under a sad white paint job and a layer of graffiti at a local thrift store and knew I could strip back the years and transform it into a piece that blends its vintage charm with a modern twist. After a quick swab to make sure there was no lead in this paint, I got started trying out an eco-friendly paint stripper to see what was hiding underneath. I brushed on a thick layer of the gel, let it sit for a few hours, and then came to scrape off what I could. Some of the paint came off easily and some of it did not but that's to be expected. When I'd scraped off as much as I could, I used the after wash that came with the stripper to remove any residue and left the wood to dry back out. While it was doing that, I brought the brass handles inside to polish them up. I soaked the grime off in a mix of vinegar and hot water and then used a brass wire brush and a bit of barky first friend to get them shining again. Next, using some one 20 grit sandpaper on my small details in I moved over each surface really carefully trying not to sand through the thin maple veneer and making sure that I cleaned up all the messy bits on the inside of the frame too. Once I had all the strip sanding done and had cleaned up all the little cracks and seams with a dental pick, I swapped out the 120 grit for some 180 grit to go back over everything and do a finished sand to smooth out the wood and get it ready for some stain and as I finished working on each surface, I wiped it down with some mineral spirits which cleans off the dust shows the actual color of the wood grain and makes any of those tiny little sanding swirls stick out so that you can fix them if you need to. There were a few spots of veneer that needed gluing back down so I filled up a syringe with some wood glue to help me get up under there and then filled in all of those missing chunks with some epoxy wood putty. I swatched out a bunch of different stain options and decided on a white paint wash with a layer of walnut gel stain over top. I brushed a layer of my water down off white paint over the entire vanity working one small section at a time and then immediately wiping back any excess with a shop towel to leave the slightest hint of pigment behind while that was drying I ended up deciding that I didn't really like the wood grain on the side panels and with the large spots of damage paint was probably going to be a better option. So I added the warmer layer of gel stain over top of the whitewash just on the drawer fronts and then primed the rest of the vanity to get it ready for its new paint job. I've been wanting to use this pretty dusty pink color for a while now. It definitely looks a lot different wet than it does once it's dry but I strained about half of a pint of paint into my pneumatic spray gun and then added about two tablespoons of water to thin it out a bit more. I sprayed on my first coat of paint and left it to dry for about two hours before spraying on my second coat to fill in any light spots. The Fusion Mineral Paint that I used is super durable and wipeable all by itself but since a piece like this is going to get a lot of traffic and probably be wiped off or cleaned a lot more your average dresser. I wanted to make it as tough as possible. So, this water-based polyurethane is going to do that. Again, I strained some into my spray gun, tested out the spray on some cardboard, and then moved over to the piece. I sprayed on a total of three coats of this over the body and the drawer fronts waiting about two hours again in between. Finally, I went out and found this beautiful arched mirror that I think is the perfect modern match for this vintage piece. I am so thrilled with how this vanity turned out especially with its fun mix of fresh paint and preserved wood grain. Bringing together the best of both areas. I would love to know what you think. Has this vintage piece regained its former glory? Drop me a comment below and let me know your thoughts and don't forget to like and share if you've enjoyed watching this transformation come to life.

He pulled off the existing casings and trimmed the baseboards and crown with an oscillating tool. . He pre cut EVERYTHING (including the pieces for three sides boxes) sanded all the boards, and painted it with Benjamin Moore Command paint with an airless paint sprayer. The paint has a self leveling quality and I’ve never seen its equal on the finish. . It’s VERY FUMEY but dries super fast. I can’t imagine using any other paint in the future because the finish is SO. GOOD. . He installed the 1x board casings to either side of the door, then cleats to attach the boxes to. Then the boxes went over and were secured to those with nails into each side. Then the molding strips that connect the box edges on the ceiling. Then he painted the overhead. . Next he glued and nailed the overhead cherub arches and corbels. . Filled/spackled nail holes and touched up paint and then: couldn’t believe our eyes. . The whole project is on our Lowe’s storefront with a diagram of where each piece goes and a link to each molding. . Yes, it’s all at Lowe’s and you can get it shipped right to your door. .
