Jewelry Making - How To Use A Bezel Pusher

This is a must-have in any metalsmith studio. Whether you use metal, acrylic or an old modified toothbrush handle, you will need something to push the bezel wall against the cabochon. A bezel pusher is a cheap, but necessary tool for bezel setting. I have a few different kinds…but, if you don’t have one in your tool box, you could even use a stainless steel spoon! Tips: • NSEW - push in the four sides first, then work your way around the bezel. • For large bezels, set the four sides, then the 4 “corners”, then work your way around. • I hold the stone in the bezel with the thumb of my other hand…if it’s not secure, it’ll pop out. • Remember to use gentle pressure.
