My friends daughter (also my friend) just graduated college with her teaching degree, and her family wanted to surprise her with a custom rocking chair for her classroom. She will be teaching locally at an elementary school. My friend found a woman on Etsy who does them, but she needed to provide the chair (and the woman was unresponsive). She asked me if there was any chance we had an old wooden rocking chair up for grabs between me and my parents inventory and showed me what she wanted it for. We didn’t have a chair at the time but I said DO NOT BUY ONE…I know we will come across one! Sure enough, only 3 days later my parents found this one in the trash! After thinking about it, I felt really confident I could do this project myself. I presented an offer to my friend and she was gracious enough to trust me with the project! She didn’t see anything at all until I revealed it finished to her…talk about blind trust! 🥹 I wish it took a minute and thirty seconds to complete, but I have hours and days of time-lapsed material in my camera roll! 😆 This was definitely a labor of love, and I am so happy to see it go to such a deserving home! The Steps: • Wood filled as many cracks as I could, let fully dry • Sand entire chair, blow off, clean with water, let fully dry • Prime entire chair, one coat (not shown in video, the only thing I forgot to document) • Paint!
