Peter Pan Party

These are a few of the ideas we used for Ethan's 4 year birthday party. It was an absolute blast, but I admit, there is very little out there that has Peter Pan already printed on it. It turned out to be a really fun time inspired by little dude's love of this story! First of all, we began the party at a local pizza place...I wanted everyone to have a good meal before coming back to the house for cake and fun. When the kids arrived, they ran through our entry hallway where I had a silver star balloon for each of them with their name on it. This was supposed to simulate flying to Neverland. When they came into the living room, they had a little dance party to the "Jake and the Neverland Pirates" music (way fun!). In the living room, each kid got a Peter Pan hat with their name written on it (glitter puffy paint, bought the hats from www.theatrehouse.com....green alpine hat with feather). In one corner of the living room was a sign and picture indicating "Tiger Lily's Camp". I borrowed a teepee from a friend who had made it for her daughter. Inside of the teepee I had placed a trinket (one of those old magnetic write-on pull off boards...found at Oriental Trading). I purchased these with a blank background and simply printed out some pictures from the Disney movie and put it on behind. In a different corner, we had "Skull Rock" (a poster board with the mouth cut out and eyes and nose colored in). I taped this onto a stand up toy my son had as a baby). The kids had to go into "Skull Rock" to get their treasure box. The treasure box was filled with Peter Pan inspired items: Pixie Sticks, sucker ring pops, gold chocolate coins, pirate rubber duckies, plastic rings, Disney fruit snacks, pencil craft kit with a ship on top, etc. They were also put into boxes that looked like treasure chests. In the kitchen, we put out snacks on the counter and called the space "Mr. Smee's Galley". Juice boxes and water bottles were put into a treasure chest at floor level for kids to get to easily. The kitchen also had "Mermaid Lagoon" that had a pin the parrot on the pirate game and "Pixie Hollow" where the kids painted a Christmas ornament, then sprinkled it with pixie dust. Our dining room had the cake (shaped like a book with a map of Neverland). It held two other spaces as well, "The Jolly Roger" where the kids used a hook to try to fish for a bucket with a prize inside (compass), and "The Darling's Nursery" where the kids could snuggle with a teddy bear and look through "Peter Pan" and other books with pirates. Target also happened to have copies of "Peter Pan" in the dollar bin, so each kid also received their own copy of the book and a bookmark. Before kids left, the last thing they received was a Peter Pan coloring book (easily made using color pages found online) and a box of crayons wrapped in images from the Disney movie. PS: How do I attach photos?? I'm so new at this!
