Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/18/24 Full Review Audience Member The V/H/S series now features more short stories at the dawn of the new millennium It’s the final punk rock days of analog technology The stories here center on a punk rock band with a devils curse, a college student in a hazing ritual by a sorority when at a cemetery, a kids tv battle show involving vengeful relatives, a group of friends filming pranks gawking at an attractive woman, and a group of people participating in a demon summoning that has hellish consequences The first segment is pretty self explanatory The second segment feels very satisfying given it delivers a comeuppance Although the third segment is more disturbing than scary The 4th one is quite the shocker taking a jab at the male gaze although some of the cgi looks a big dollar store quality The 5th one actually is the most creative because it goes all out taking some biblical influences Overall this chapter in the franchise is one of the best covering urban legends and internet folklore in the Y2K era You get the scares, the entertainment, the gore, and the laughs Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/30/24 Full Review Jordan H It’s just good enough to not be a regrettable watch. Lot of misses, but it’s entertaining even when the horror sucks. Second sketch (Sorority Pledge) is the best in terms of horror. 4th is entertaining (The Gawkers). Ozzy’s Dungeon (3rd sketch) is a big miss for me, but it was an interesting swing at the ball. 5th sketch was pretty sh*t imo. 1st skit was not very good either. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/12/24 Full Review Damian M Definitely the worst in the series, but still fun Pros. Stop Motion bits were great, Everything looks great, visually just cool, decent story premises, and I had fun with that. Cons Almost everyone in the movie was such an ass, I found myself rooting for them to die Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/13/24 Full Review Gorptholemew T 🍀 5.6/10 I got this on steel book And I’ll just say for the DVD cover itself it is sick but getting into the actual logistics of the movie. This is probably some of the worst pile of segments we’ve had for a bit even kind of makes me like 94 a little more. So here’s my takes. Shredding Walmart fnaf but emo 6/10 Suicide bid Lily kinda look like Billie Eilish a little effective, due to the performances, but just kind of stale. 5/10 Izzy’s dungeon Steven Ogg was here to act and act he did. The segment started off pretty good, and then I started to not really like where it went afterwards, but then definitely picked up by the end with some of the practical effects. Pretty entertaining but a little disappointing. 6/10 The Gawkers Amateur night. But not as good. 5/10 To Hell And Back Hell girl Gollum was pretty fun. Some of the Gore and the designs of characters and this was pretty fun. But very straight to the point to the point that you almost just get thrown in here but understandable. 5.5/10 Anyways there wasn’t really a stand out segment. There were certain things that happened in segments that I enjoyed but this is definitely one of the more weaker VHS entries. Not as bad as viral, though so there’s that. I liked the slow motion segments 👍 Average score 5.5/10 Grade B- Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 10/06/24 Full Review Korra N Bolder than 94 but a bit inconsistent, V/H/S/99 is still a good horror movie and great addition to the titular V/H/S franchise.
