    Rank 4, CSE 2012 Alby John Varghese, a member of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Churchs parish of St Johns Orthodox Valiyapally,Pampakuda, came 4th in the Civil Service Examinations. An MBBS holder, Alby was serving as a medical officer in the Kerala government service in Ernakulam district. On hearing about the result Alby said, This was my first attempt and I started preparing in January last year. I took medicine and Malayalam literature as my optional subjects. This is one examination where mugging will do no good.Instead, one has to work really hard and my childhood ambition to become a civil service official has been accomplished. It is interesting to note that this is the third consecutive year a member of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church from the medical field is getting a rank in the civil service examination. In 2011, Dr Tariq Thomas of Puthupally secured 35th rank and in 2012, Miss Annies Kanmani Joy from Onakkur, who was the first nurse to secure atrank in the civil service examinations, secured the 65th rank.
