Nutrition 407: MNT Lab The MNT lab taught by Brenda Oday is another class that I have enjoyed

and felt comfortable in. I liked learning about Nutrition Care Process and the ADIME format, which is what we must know as future RDs. One of my favorite parts of this class was definitely learning about enteral and parenteral nutrition and how they are different. I dont think Ive ever knew that one is given intravenously and the other is given through the GI tract. Its something that Ive never been exposed to in pervious classes and was challenging and fascinating thing to learn and want to learn more about. I think this class has influenced me to become more interested in acute trauma like Brendas career at Sharp because its so mind blowing how PN and EN works on patients. I know that this class is a very valuable and useful tool as a future RD because Brenda is an excellent lab instructor that actually works in the field and knows what she is talking about when she lectures about each and every case study. Some of the case studies I liked doing and learning about most was PN and EN feeding, crohns, and diabetes. I think these case studies really enhanced my learning and what I already knew. This semester project is about meal planning with a patient with diabetes and crohns and is in the processes of being finished. We are supposed write an NCP, make a meal plan, budget the meal plan, and assess the patients nutritional needs. I feel that this project is a great learning activity for myself since its done individually and it gives me an opportunity to show what I have learned in this class. Overall, I really think this is important class to take and Brenda done an outstanding job at teaching this course. She is one of the most experienced instructors Ive had at SDSU since she is a practicing RD, which is why I think I liked her teaching style. Thus far, Ive done great in her class and hope to do the same in the class project.
