ACTION
RESULTS
1. ANALYTICAL SKILLS
2. Communication Skills
3. Flexibility /Adaptability
While on a project for British Telecom I was in a application support group role wherein many technical snags/bugs found in existing code were brought to surface by client complaints In quite a few of the projects I worked in the clients were foreign (British Telecom , General Electric etc) so there as a need to effectively communicate with overseas client staff in English On many of the projects I worked with for TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) , there was the need to take up night shift regularly.
I was tasked with diagnosing and then resolving these on a regular basis all of which required extensive analytical skills I often took up this client facing critical activity as my English skills are up to scratch both verbally and written, often a severe shortcoming in many teams. On many occasions I took the initiative in this regards and took up many such routines voluntarily to aid the project in cases where others were unwilling. I took the lead in this activity by taking charge of capturing and documenting the knowledge transfer process formally for the team.
Most often I in conjunction with my teammates was able to resolve these issues successfully and to the clients satisfaction.
Client communication and involvement improved and my supervisor and project manager were delighted!
The project could sustain its operations without interruption or client dissatisfaction
4. Leadership Skills
While on a night shift , the requirement came up to take knowledge transfer from client side team in US and our team was lacking in adequate manpower
5. Planning Skills
There was a critical need of coordinating all team member shift schedules so I was tasked with planning and organizing the same to everyones satisfaction , that is the team members
I started by interacting with all the stakeholders individually , charting their individual requirements
AS this project was in the inception phase, client was pleased with my coordinated effort to start things off by capturing the standard operating procedures for the coming day to day maintenance operations. For the most part it was successful, however as is always the case some team members ere disgruntled to be allocated a few more
and the team leads /project managers so that An optimum team mix could be maintained across all shifts for effective client support.
6. Initiative/Drive/En ergy
While in the Cricket Communications account a new project came up involving the transference of the oracle and MS SQL DBA operations from client team to TCS
/preferences and then mapping it with project priorities and charted out the best schedule possible within the constraints I actively requested to take part in this initiative and was involved in all aspects of the project startup and transference.
7. Problem-Solving Skills
8. Teamwork Skills
On most of the projects I worked there were numerous occasions where problem solving skills were required extensively to find solutions/workarounds for many technical or process related issues/challenges In the project startup activity mentioned there was a huge need to bring together , motivate and mentor new team members to sustain and develop the project
More often than not me alone or working with my team mates were able to resolve/rectify issues and problems technical or process related Being one of the first and senior most members of the team present from the very inception I was able to provide the right guidance, knowledge and hand holding necessary to get all concerned up to speed. Upon a close examination of the code I saw the deficiency in the part of code which dealt with the order shipping process and upon a little deliberation was able to modify it
night shifts than they would have liked but the project demanded their seniority to supervise proceedings in those shifts, so on that end my plan worked well. My experience, skill and most importantly my drive in co coordinating all activities and motivating team members helped a lot to get this project rolling. Led to better quality of our project deliverables / service to the client and hence enhanced customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The project team was hugely benefited from my team building efforts
9. Technical Skills
In an Oracle Applications ERP suite technical component dealing with shipping labels, an unforeseen snag came up and I was assigned the task of diagnosing and rectifying the same.
Testing revealed my code to work perfectly and my supervisor and later client were appreciative.
innovatively and successfully to achieve the required functionality. 10. Time Management skills. In one project there was a regular deluge of service tickets pending in our queues for action I often actively took them up in a systematic and methodical fashion dispatching as many as I could in as small a timeframe as possible Backlogged tickets were serviced, queues where cleared and client was satisfied.
