Two Pegs Test
Two Pegs Test
INTRODUCTION Two Peg Test is a surveying operation carried out to determine whether the levelling bubble and telescope line of sight are parallel
THEORY By using the levelling method, work for establishing Temporary Bench Mark (TBM). Distances between backsight and foresight must be more or less equivalent to avoid collimation errors. The survey work is to ensure so that the true error is smaller than the permissible error Backsight is the first sight taken after temporary levelling of the instrument has been carried out. Foresight is last sight taken before the instrument is transferred to another point.
PROCEDURE 1. Measure out 3 points (A,B,C) 30m apart, and mark them on the ground 2. Set up the level at the centre point B, and put the staff at A 3. Level the instrument. 4. Bubble Test: Check the bubble on reversal (turn it 180) 5. Sight the staff, focus, remove parallax, refocus 6. Read the staff, book the entry, read the staff again. 7. Move the staff to point C, sight the staff, read the staff, book the entry, read the staff again. 8. Move the instrument to 2m beyond C on the line ABC 9. Sight the staff, read the staff, books the entry, read the staff again. 10. Move the staff to point A, sight the staff, read the staff, book the entry, read the staff again.
