Spiritual Neglect

By Apostle John Eckhardt, www.johneckhardtministries.com

1 Timothy 4:14 Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

You cannot be SLOTHFUL and neglect your gifts and calling. Your gift and calling is like a vineyard. A vineyard requires constant attention and maintenance in order to bring forth fruit. You must HUSBAND your gift and calling. A HUSBAND is a manager or steward, as of a household.

Proverbs 24:30-31 I went by the field of the SLOTHFUL, and by the VINEYARD of the man void of understanding; And, lo, it was all grown over with THORNS, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.

You must USE your gift. The more you use it, the more it will develop and sharpen. You are responsible for your gift and calling.

"Growing in the spiritual gifts God has given to us is not just a good ideait is something required of us. With the gift, comes a responsibility. And just as Paul exhorts Timothy to be diligent in paying attention to and progressing in the gift and calling on his life, so should we be intentional about stewarding our own gifts and calling." (Helen Calder)

Have you been SLOTHFUL with your gift and calling? Have you been DILIGENT in developing and using your gift? Do you give proper attention to what God has called you to do? These are important questions we need to ask.

1 Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good STEWARDS of the manifold grace of God.

1 Peter 4:10 (AMP) As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of Gods many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor].
