-Developed and instructed lesson plans to differentiate to all academic levels in the classroom. -Created lesson plans using various sources of technology to increase the level of engagement in the classroom. -Led Parent Teacher Conferences. -Developed and piloted a new book club format to allow for higher level thinking for middle school students aligning the curriculum with Common Core State Standards. Explored this content for an Action research project as well. -Participated in district wide professional development. -Maintained a classroom environment free of bullying, and was conducive to learning while developing a positive student/ teacher relationship. - Assessed students progress and understandings by performing formative and summative assessments using paper based and technology based assessments. -Provided daily support to the classroom, giving differentiated instruction to small groups and individuals who need extra support. -Worked with mentor teacher in creating lesson plans aligned with the Common Core, and assisted in the instruction of those lessons.
-Learned grade level curriculum by viewing districts standards, Common Core State Standards, GLCES, and Next Generation Science Standards. -Trained in DIBELS for grades K- 6 as a tool to assess learners in their reading ability. -6th Grade Camp Senior Counselor. Led a group of students in wilderness activities and was girls chaperone in cabins. Jenison Aquatics Center 2001-Present Swim Instructor: -Taught American Red Cross swim lessons to children from the ages of 314 in 6 different levels. -Worked with a diverse range of students which included autism, learning disabilities, racial, and ethnic differences. -Strong level of communication with parents regarding questions, students progress, behavioral expectations, and what the child could work on. -Prepared and maintained required lesson plans, reports, and records. -Responsible for training new instructors, planning new class, and developing curriculum to fit the needs of all swimmers. Swim Coach: -Coached swimmers on the Jenison Age Group Swim team. -Motivated kids to do their individual best at meets and practice with a positive sportsmanship attitude.
Jenison Public Schools 2005-2006 CAL Tutor (Cross Age Learning) -Tutored 5th grade students at Rosewood Elementary in mathematics providing one-on-one work with students who were struggling in class. -Developed an understanding of the Michigan Standards (now the Common Core) for mathematics. Hager Park Church 2007-2014 Volunteer Youth Leader -Mentored a group of high school girls in a small group discussion -Helped organize and chaperone student service projects in New York City, New Orleans, and in the local community.
