This study examines social media use among elites and non-elites in Armenia. The researchers found that Facebook users tended to be more urban, educated, and have stronger English language skills, while Odnoklassniki users were more rural, less educated, and had weaker English skills. Facebook users were more likely to use social media to get information, while Odnoklassniki users were more likely to use it for games. However, non-elite Odnoklassniki users were not engaging in activities that could help build social capital. The researchers conclude that social media may not be helping non-elites enhance their social capital in Armenia's challenging environment.
