Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley based on a true story.
Always...Patsy Cline is based on the humorous, but touching, true story of Patsy Clines
friendship with Texas housewife Louise Seger. Having first heard Cline on the radio Seger
became an immediate fan, constantly hounding the local disc jockey to play Clines records.
When Cline travelled to Texas for a show in 1961, Seger arrived about an hour and a half
early, and by coincidence, met Cline who was travelling alone. The two women struck up a
friendship that lasted until Clines untimely death in a plane crash in 1963.
Special Thanks to Mr. Charlie Dick. Performed in Association with APC Inc., Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.

very August, hundreds of theatrical venues in historic Edinburgh, Scotland,
open up their doors to thousands of performers and participants, in what has
become the largest arts festival in the world, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
These performers and participants travel from 62 countries worldwide and
include recognizable big names of the performing arts, unknown artists looking to build
their careers, and students who are just beginning to refine their talents. The Festival caters
to, and includes classical, musical, physical and experimental theatre, as well as other
events that thoroughly explore the scope and depths of theatre in the world today.
Carolina Forest High School is proud to be representing Horry County Schools, as well as
the Palmetto State of South Carolina, under the direction of G. Wayne Canady to perform
AlwaysPatsy Cline at the Church Hill Theatre. It is worthy to note that last years event
came to a three-week end after 45,464 performances of 2,871 shows. An estimated
1,943,493 tickets were issued for events in 273 venues across the city, reflecting the
growing popularity and cultural significance of the Fringe. Amazingly, the Fringe invites all
participants to view any of its nearly 2,900 different shows at no additional cost. A plethora
of highly regarded awards are also given at the festival by a wide range of organizations,
including a new award this year for childrens theatre. The Festival celebrates the best of
new theatre and rewards innovation by showcasing premier performances of new writers
from around the world.
We appreciate your support in our historic quest to reach the Fringe this summer, as we
proudly represent our fine arts department and the wonderful community of family and
friends that fill our auditorium at every production. We encourage you to learn more about
the inspiring festival by visiting www.edfringe.com. The video link below is particularly
awesome and helpful for understanding the significance of the Fringe.

Gods greatest gifts come as unexpected surprises, and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival
experience is one of those unexpected gifts that came by surprise. Our days and months
have been long and full of hard work since learning that we were selected to perform
during the 2014 Festival. In the face of adversity, when there were those who thought it
would never happen, here we are. It has been a life lesson in being persistent and staying
steadfast to the course, never swaying until the job is done. To all of our 100% true
patrons, who believe in us in all situations, thank you! You are the lifeline to hope, light,
and greatness when darkness encircles the pathway. You give strength and are there to
lift us up when others are waiting for the trips and falls. Life is about making the most of
every situation; it is not what life gives you, but what you make of it that matters in the
end. I trust that everyone who is part of this wonderful journey will value each opportunity
and treasure the rich cultural exchanges. This is a life changing learning exploration that
will only prove to go by way too quickly; however, the rewards will be held as cherished
memories long after the mist of the moment evaporates.
To all our patrons, supporters, families and friends who made this dream become
a reality, we are ever grateful! A special thanks to Mr. Charlie Dick the husband of Miss
Patsy Cline for his help so that we could showcase this wonderful work. My most sincere
gratitude goes to our most dedicated advocate Mrs. Mona Sarajian for her countless hours
of tireless service to ensure that we completed our goal. An expression of appreciation
only begins to touch the enduring friendship and continued help of my assistant director,
Ms. Becky Bannon. Hands down my most prized unconditional support still comes from
my mother. I am forever grateful to have her with all her blessings. To our cast, crew, and
fellow theater arts faculty who are here with us, I appreciate you more than you will ever
know. Without you, we would not be here among 62 other countries in the largest theater
festival in the world. Carpe Diem!
Ever Grateful,
G. Wayne Canady, Director

BECKY BANNON, Assistant Director
When Carolina Forest Education Center opened17 years ago, Becky
Bannon was boththe middle school and high school drama teacher. Two
years later, the dramaprogram had grown so much that Wayne Canady
joined the high school staff, andBecky remained at the middle school.
Those of you who have seen the musicalsproduced by both schools for the
past ten years know that the rest is history.
Mrs. Bannon is the founding sponsor of Carolina Forest
Middle,Ocean Bay Middle, Black Water Middle, and Carolina Forest High
SchoolInternational Thespian Society troupes. In 2011 she returned to
Black WaterMiddle to play Miss Hannigan in their production of Annie.Wayne was Daddy Warbucks,
and we had a great time letting someone else direct us for a change,
she commented.
She presentlyserveson the Board of Directors of Vocal Edition, the areas first
adultsingingensemble.
She also enjoys directing the Christmas pageant each year atthe Church of the Resurrection in Surfside
Beach.
Even as a young girl growing up in thehills of West Virginia, Mrs. Bannon loved anything to do with
theater. She studied dance for ten years and vividly remembers her favorite performancebeing that of
the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker. After playing the lead in all four ofher high school productions,
she was awarded the InternationalThespian Societyscholarship. She earned a degree in both English
and TheaterArts from MarshallUniversity where she was an active member of the theaterdepartment.
Althoughshe performed in some shows, she knew she had found acareer when she student-directed
The Pajama Game for her senior project.
Before moving toSouth Carolina in 1980, Mrs. Bannon taught in seven other states and for
the Department of Defense in Turkey. She did graduate work at both Marshall andCoastal Carolina
University. For the past 30 years, she has been stage managerfor High Steppin Country, the longest
running show on the Grand Strand.
Although she officially retired from teaching in 2007,she was honoredto be asked to go back to
CFHS to work with Wayne on Aida in 2008, CATS in 2009, Grey Gardens (her favorite sofar) in 2010,
TheDrowsy Chaperone in 2011, Les Misrables in 2012 and Phantom of the Opera last year.
Wayne and I both agree that of the many shows weve done, Ragtime has definitely been the
hardest, she said. The difficult music and the complex subject matter were quite a challenge for both
of us, our music director, our choreographer, and the cast and crew, but everyone rose to the occasion.
And, thats what educational theater is all about.

ALWAYS...PATSY CLINE SYNOPSIS
Always...Patsy Cline is based on the true story of Patsy Clines friendship with Houston
housewife Louise Seger.
Having first heard Cline on the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1957, Seger became an immediate
and avid fan of Clines and she constantly hounded the local disc jockey to play Clines
records on the radio. In 1961 when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger and her buddies
arrived about an hour-and-a-half early and, by coincidence, met Cline who was traveling
alone. The two women struck up a friendship that was to culminate in Cline spending the
night at Segers house a friendship that lasted until Clines untimely death in a plane crash
in 1963.
The relationship, which began as fan worship evolved into one of mutual respect. It is the
kind of relationship that many fans would like to have with their heroes.
Over a pot of strong coffee, the two women chatted about their common concerns. When
Cline finally left for Dallas, her next job, the two women had exchanged addresses and
telephone numbers. Seger never expected to hear from Cline again, but soon after she left,
Seger received the first of many letters and phone calls from Cline. The pen-pal relationship
provides much of the plot of the show.
The play focuses on the fateful evening at Houstons Esquire Ballroom when Seger hears of
Clines death in a plane crash. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the
set singing tunes that made her famous Anytime, Walkin After Midnight, Shes Got You,
Sweet Dreams, and Crazy to name a few.
The show combines humor, sadness and reality. It offers fans who remember Cline while she
was alive a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what seeing her was like
and what she meant to her original fans.
One morning about two years later, I was driving to
work and as usual I was waiting for Hal Harris to play my
favorite Patsy Cline record. Instead, they come on and said
that Patsy had been killed in an airplane crash on her way
back to Nashville. She was thirty years old.
