Our days and months have been long and full of hard work since learning that we were selected to perform during the 2014 Festival. In the face of adversity, when there were those who thought it would never happen, here we are. It has been a life lesson in being persistent and staying steadfast to the course, never swaying until the job is done. To all of our 100% true patrons, who believe in us in all situations, thank you! You are the lifeline to hope, light, and greatness when darkness encircles the pathway. You give strength and are there to lift us up when others are waiting for the trips and falls. Life is about making the most of every situation; it is not what life gives you, but what you make of it that matters in the end. I trust that everyone who is part of this wonderful journey will value each opportunity and treasure the rich cultural exchanges. This is a life changing learning exploration that will only prove to go by way too quickly; however, the rewards will be held as cherished memories long after the mist of the moment evaporates. To all our patrons, supporters, families and friends who made this dream become a reality, we are ever grateful! A special thanks to Mr. Charlie Dick the husband of Miss Patsy Cline for his help so that we could showcase this wonderful work. My most sincere gratitude goes to our most dedicated advocate Mrs. Mona Sarajian for her countless hours of tireless service to ensure that we completed our goal. An expression of appreciation only begins to touch the enduring friendship and continued help of my assistant director, Ms. Becky Bannon. Hands down my most prized unconditional support still comes from my mother. I am forever grateful to have her with all her blessings. To our cast, crew, and fellow theater arts faculty who are here with us, I appreciate you more than you will ever know. Without you, we would not be here among 62 other countries in the largest theater festival in the world. Carpe Diem! Ever Grateful, G. Wayne Canady, Director

Having first heard Cline on the Arthur Godfrey Show in 1957, Seger became an immediate and avid fan of Clines and she constantly hounded the local disc jockey to play Clines records on the radio. In 1961 when Cline went to Houston for a show, Seger and her buddies arrived about an hour-and-a-half early and, by coincidence, met Cline who was traveling alone. The two women struck up a friendship that was to culminate in Cline spending the night at Segers house a friendship that lasted until Clines untimely death in a plane crash in 1963. The relationship, which began as fan worship evolved into one of mutual respect. It is the kind of relationship that many fans would like to have with their heroes. Over a pot of strong coffee, the two women chatted about their common concerns. When Cline finally left for Dallas, her next job, the two women had exchanged addresses and telephone numbers. Seger never expected to hear from Cline again, but soon after she left, Seger received the first of many letters and phone calls from Cline. The pen-pal relationship provides much of the plot of the show. The play focuses on the fateful evening at Houstons Esquire Ballroom when Seger hears of Clines death in a plane crash. Seger supplies a narrative while Cline floats in and out of the set singing tunes that made her famous Anytime, Walkin After Midnight, Shes Got You, Sweet Dreams, and Crazy to name a few. The show combines humor, sadness and reality. It offers fans who remember Cline while she was alive a chance to look back, while giving new fans an idea of what seeing her was like and what she meant to her original fans. One morning about two years later, I was driving to work and as usual I was waiting for Hal Harris to play my favorite Patsy Cline record. Instead, they come on and said that Patsy had been killed in an airplane crash on her way back to Nashville. She was thirty years old.
