COLOUR Deep ruby red. PERFUME Enhanced cherry and ripe plum nose balanced with vanilla and toast. TASTE Tis medium bodied wine has a persistent palate of cherries and plums. Tis traditional Barbera is perfectly balanced. REGION Hills in the south of the province of Asti, Piemonte. South West aspects at altitudes between 250 and 400 m. Limestone-clay soil. VINEYARD Piemonte low Guyot trellis. Old vines. Planting density 4,000- 4,500/ha. WINE MAKING Te fruit was hand harvested only from vines over 40 years old. Fer- mented in stainless steel tanks at 25-30 C. Pressed when dry and racked to stainless steel tanks for malolactic fermentation. Te clear wine was then racked to a mixture of French oak barrels (50%) and large traditional Piemonte oak vats for 12 months maturation. Tese two components were then blended and bottled.
