the arrival time.

8:45-10:00
Planned Small
Group Activities

During choice time, the children choose to play in a variety of centers, engage in project work, and participate in small group lessons. Center
choices include: Art, dramatic play, science, math, blocks, computer, writing, or light table. Children may also work in the studio at this time.
We will continue working towards the following goals:

-We will discuss the blender from the dramatic play area (and potentially the standing mixer too). I imagine these conversations will look
similar to our coffee maker discussions, so we will see where it goes! Im seeing more productive play involving the coffee maker; last week
we made pretend coffee grounds and added them to the center.
-We will work on our self-portraits. We will be using pencils for this activity at this point. I will work with small groups (2-3 children) at a
table in the art center for this activity.
-We will likely continue working on story retelling, as there are several children particularly interested in this. Last week we used props and
even discussed making ourselves characters from the story to help retell it. This is such an important, foundational skill that Im going to
capture working on it as much as possible while they are interested and having fun!
-I will also be working on a baseline assessment to gain a more clear understanding of what knowledge each child is entering school with. This
will help to inform my practice over the coming months. I will work with children one-on-one for short periods of time for this.

Outdoor
Investigations

Children will wash hands after story time and will gather together for a snack. After finishing their snacks, children will move outdoors to
continue their investigations. Materials are available to the children at this time including: Jump ropes, blocks, ramps, various obstacle courses,
sidewalk chalk, dramatic play, books, trikes and scooters, gardening, balls, a basketball goal, and art supplies. Music and movement is included
in outdoor time. We will play a variety of music and have instruments and materials for children to use. Teachers will use this time to further
develop any ideas the children have previously expressed an interest in exploring. Additionally, teachers will use this time to extend any
ongoing project work.
11:40-12:00
Dismissal

After cleaning the outdoor area, children will get a drink of water, wash hands, and come indoors to work on calming activities with the
teachers and interns as we move through the dismissal process.
