Philosophy Statement
Little Hands Pequeas Manos Bilingual Educational Care was created,
after evaluating the community needs for a diverse program. Our commitment is to provide a safe, healthy, bilingual and educational environment that includes activities to enhance and support the 5 developmental domains, which are: intellectual, fine and gross motor, language/literacy and socio-emotional. We provide bilingual activities to support child development in based on each childs interest, developmental stage and age. For us, each child is unique and we believe that the children learn through play in a beautiful environment with appropriate and attractive materials including children with disabilities and different cultures. We believe that the children learn their second language better when they are exposed in an immersion environment, that means that we talk with them in Spanish during our circle time, songs, story time, and children routines, so each child can learn their second language according to their age, developmental stages and own skills. At Little Hands- Pequeas Manos the children learn for their own experiences, through the play and following good models. Parents are welcome at any time of the day and to share activities with their children. Parents are very important part of the childrens experiences and learning. So our commitment is to provide bilingual education and a rich environment with age-appropriate materials and activities that encourage them to explore, investigate, discover and learn at their own pace based on Creative Curriculum. As a professional I seek to be up-to-date and in order to achieve this I attend conferences, training workshops that will help me to achieve this goal. When I have personnel helping me I motivate them to attend training workshops that they need and I support them by paying for them. In this manner, we can improve our services for the children and to the families that participate in our program.
