    The Gummy Bear Lab

    Problem: What would happen if you accidentally left gummy bears in water
    overnight?
    Hypothesis: If I leave the gummy in water then the gummi will get bigger
    because the water fills up with it.
    Materials:
    1 Gummi Bear
    1 Gummi Worm
    Triple Beam Balance
    Ruler
    2 Cups
    Graduated Cylinder
    Procedure:
    1. Get your materials, and label the cups gummi bear, & gummy worm.
    2. Find the mass of your gummy bear, & gummy worm.
    3. Measure the length, width, and height of each of them.
    4. Multiply L x H x W to find the volume for each gummi.
    5. Fill each cup half way up with water.
    6. Add the gummy into each that is labeled cup
    7. Put it in front of the room until the next day to see if anything happened.

    Example

    Conclusion:
    What would happen if you accidentally left gummy bears in water
    overnight? My hypothesis was correct because the gummy bear and gummy worm

    got bigger because the water inside the gummy bear. I know that to be true because
    the mass of each gummi was bigger on the second day after experiment then the
    first day from the start of the experiment. The water went into the gummy bear,and
    worm because of a thing called diffusion. Diffusion is when molecules move from
    areas of high concentration to low concentration. The water was the place that had
    the high concentration of the molecules. So when the gummy bear, and gummy
    worm was in the cup with the water the high concentration of the water was going
    into the low concentration of the molecules in the gummy bear, and worm.
