    If the cleaning inside the exhaust casing was insufficient during RH turbocharger servicing, carbon contamination
    may be left, which causes the clearance to the turbine wheel to be small even after servicing. When the
    turbocharger was operated under this state, Carbon Touch (interference of the turbine wheel with carbon deposit on
    the casing) can result, which can cause the turbocharger damage at an early timing due to imbalanced rotor
    rotations. In the HFO spec. engines, in particular, which will produce larger amount of carbon, we need to check the
    carbon deposit carefully.
    In order to know if or not the carbon inside the exhaust casing was removed appropriately, we have fabricated a
    new tool, (cylinder gauge). One can check if or not the carbon inside the exhaust casing was removed appropriately
    by inserting this gauge into the exhaust casing.
    The table below shows the cylinder gauge, which corresponds to the respective turbocharger model and the
    applicable engine models. Please order the appropriate cylinder gauge from us through Yanmar Engineering
    Company or your distributor.
