Citing Sources
When you are using evidence in your writing, you can transition into and cite sources either by
mentioning:

The name of the organization that published/produced the source


o According to an article by the Associated Press, chocolate milk is unfairly blamed for
causing obesity.

The author of the article and/or the name of the article


o In Schools may ban chocolate milk over added sugar, Christina Hoag interviews some
people who believe that chocolate milk is unfairly blamed as one of the causes of obesity.

The name of the specific person who said the quote (This could be within an article or video.)
o Julie Buric, who is vice president of marketing for the Milk Processors Education Program,
says, Chocolate milk has been unfairly pegged as one of the causes of obesity.

Ways to Incorporate Sources Within Paragraphs
