A Call to Give

Winston Churchill made a profound observation about giving and getting. He said,
We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give. As you work
five to six days a week, do you simply make a living, or are you making life because
you do not just get, but also give?
Ang diwa ng pagbibigay ay hindi lang dapat sa panahon ng Pasko, birthday,
anniversary o kapag may kalamidad at may panawagan para sa magkawang-gawa.
Araw-araw, puwede kang maging channel of blessing -- daluyan ng pagpapala -kung ikaw ay magbibigay, hindi lang ng material o monetary gifts, kundi pati na rin
encouragement, inspirasyon, o magandang halimbawa sa iyong mga katrabaho.
Second Corinthians 8:15 says, Those who gather a lot have nothing left over, and
those who gather only a little have enough. Paano kaya nangyari yon? Ang mas
maraming nakuha, walang naiipon, pero ang kakaunti lang ang nakuha, sapat pa
para sa kanilang pangangailangan ang kanilang napagtrabahuhan? Ano kaya ang
sikreto? Palagay ko, ang pagbibigay ay mahalagang susi para tayo ay maging
kuntento, kaya nagiging sapat ang kung ano ang mayroon tayo.
Why should we give generously?
1. If you are living comfortably at present -- at lahat naman ng iyong
pangangailangan ay natutustusan -- and you earn more, do not change your
lifestyle. Live within or below your means. Kapag kumportable na ang iyong
pamumuhay ngayon, at pagkatapos ay bigla kang nagkaroon ng pagpapala at
bonus, huwag nating baguhin ang lifestyle natin. Kung ayos na naman ang ating
present situation, ibig sabihin, dagdag na pagpapala na iyan. May iba pang
paglalaanan maliban sa sarili mong pangangailangan. The additional blessing is
probably for you to share with others.
2. We give generously because giving is empowering. Akala ba natin, kapag may
natatanggap tayo, saka lamang tayo napagpapala? Look at giving in a different
light. When you give, ikaw naman ang makatutulong sa iba. Giving is empowering.
You are able to do something.
3. Give whatever you can, according to what you have. If you are eager to give, it is
not important how much you are able to give. God wants you to give what you have
and not what you dont have. Yung iba, ganito ang iniisip, Saka na lang, wala
naman akong maibibigay ngayon. Yun ang akala mo. But if you carefully check
your possessions, marami kang ari-arian na hindi napapakingabangan. Give them
away.

Do not limit what you can give to monetary resources or material resources. Ang
resources na ipinagkatiwala sa iyo ng Diyos ay higit pa sa kailangan mo. Tingnan
mo lang at bilangin ang pagpapala and you will be surprised: marami ka palang
pwedeng maipamahagi sa iba.
There is a call to generous giving. What is your response?
