    In the dialogue, Taylor and Masato refer to each other by attaching the word -san to each
    other's name.
    We use this -san to show respect to the other person, and we should always attach it to the
    name of someone you don't know well or someone who has a higher social status than you.

    "Masat o! It 's be e n awhile !"

    In this lesson, you will learn a phrase you can use to greet someone you have not seen in a
    long time.

    O-hisashiburi de su!

    To greet someone you have not seen in a long time, you can say O-hisashiburi desu (
    ), which means "Long time no see" or "It's been awhile."
    Note that you can only use this phrase if you met the person before and haven't met with
    or spoken to the person in a long time.
    The informal version of this phrase loses the -o in the beginning and the desu at the end.
    You can use this phrase with close friends and family members: Hisashiburi (),
    which is a casual way to say "Long time no see" or "It's been awhile."
