TEACHING EXPERIENCE
Jefferson County Public Schools-Louisville, Kentucky, August 2012 to June 2014.
ECE (Special Education) Teacher. Taught K-5 students with emotional and
behavior disorders, taught in a variety of settings from self-contained classroom to
co-teaching to collaborative teaching to small group instruction, established the
Frayser Elementary School Drum Circle Program which was intended for students
in grades 3-5 and used for building community, rapport, responsibility, and
perseverance, successfully built the program from 10 to 20 students throughout
the school year, led a drum circle activity for Arts Field Day at the school.
Bullitt County Public Schools-Mount Washington, Kentucky, August 2010 to August
2012.
RTI Instructional Tutor-Responsible for providing small group interventions in
reading and math for students in lowest 20th percentile, monitored student
progress weekly through assessment, implemented arts integration activities that
reached students in unique ways, examples included Drumming and Letter
Blends, Drumming and Fractions, Drumming and Storytelling, and Drumming
and Punctuation, presented a summer music workshop that integrated music and
literacy (Dr. Seuss books).

Graduate Teaching Assistant in Jazz Studies. Assistant to Mike Tracy and Jerry
Tolson.
Responsibilities include: leading jazz combos, assisting with jazz history
for non-majors, assisting with the University of Louisville Jazz Week
Festival (held each year in February), lead the Portland Percussion Group,
an inner-city percussion ensemble for elementary students in West
Louisville, member of the Jazz in the Schools ensemble, a performing
group that put on programs for K-12 students in Jefferson County Schools,
assisted with logistics/set-up/teardown for jazz program concerts, briefly
taught jazz improvisation to Suzuki violin students (February 2005).
