Biography
He was born in Genoa on June 22, 1805.
He was a politician, journalist and activist.
He studied law.
He wanted to free Italy from the foreign rule.
He died in Pisa on March 10, 1872.
INVOLVEMENT IN THE
UNIFICATION OF ITALY
He joined the Carbonari society.
Establish La Giovine Italia Society, whose aim was to liberate
Italy from the control of foreign countries and also, to unify the
Italian Peninsula under a republican form of government.
When there was a change of monarch of Piedmont-Sardinia, he
wrote a letter to Charles Albert, saying that he needed to secure
the independence of Italy.
He was exiled to Switzerland and from there he encouraged
revolutionary movements in Sardinia.
Charles Albert formed an alliance with the Italian nationalists
against Austria.
INVOLVEMENT IN THE
UNIFICATION OF ITALY
When he returned to Italy he joined Giuseppe Garibaldi.
He plotted to gain Venice and Rome and he was exiled from
Switzerland for conspiracy with Garibaldi.
His solution to run the consul was the Unitarian, liberal and
constitutional republican.
He wanted to create a Unitarian Republic and eliminating the
monarchy, because they only wanted to conserve the
frontiers in the Peninsula.
Conspired for a unified and constitutional Italy and for Rome
to be the capital.
