It has advantages such as low energy requirements, easy product separation, and ability to use waste materials. Submerged liquid fermentation involves microorganisms growing submerged in a liquid fermentation medium and can be used for large-scale production but has disadvantages of difficulty in mass transfer and higher contamination risk.
